NOW IN SEASON:
FIGS! You either love them or you hate them. But there’s just something about FRESH California figs! They are not a huge staple fruit in the American diet but they sure do have great nutritional benefits that aren’t commonly talked about.
Figs are a great source of dietary FIBER (about 7 grams per serving of fresh figs)! Dietary fiber is so important to focus on in our diet because it helps maintain a healthy digestive system and also benefits us by keeping us from feeling full longer!
Figs also aid in lowering high blood pressure. They are an excellent source of potassium, a mineral that helps control our blood pressure.
Lastly, figs are high in vitamin A (crucial for proper eye function) and vitamin K
(which plays an important role in proper clotting of the blood).
Pick up some figs when you are out shopping next and throw them on a delicious pizza, throw them in some yogurt yogurt, or just eat them whole!
